Privacy and business details
In plain words: what CapyBooBoo keeps, where, why, for how long, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
CapyBooBoo is owned and run by Integrity Ai Ventures. Its company number and registered office will be listed here before launch. Integrity Ai Ventures is the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means we decide how it is used and are responsible for protecting it.
Your child’s play
Children play without an account. We don’t ask for their name; they choose one for their capybara from a short list. Their pet, clothes, toys, cakes, stickers, room and settings (sound and motion) are saved in the browser on their device, using the browser’s own storage. The game doesn’t send them to us.
That progress stays until you reset it in the game, clear the browser’s data, or the browser removes it. It doesn’t move between devices.
Read aloud. Tapping the speaker in Cappy’s speech bubble reads the words aloud using a voice built into your device. We only use voices that run on the device itself, so the words are not sent to us or to anyone else. If your device has no such voice, the speaker doesn’t appear.
There are no adverts, no chat, no uploads, no open text boxes for children, no camera or microphone, no location, and no analytics or tracking scripts in the game.
If you buy
A parent signs in using an email address and a single-use email link managed by Google Firebase Authentication / Identity Platform. We retain the verified parent account identifier and email to associate purchases with that parent. Your child has no account.
Payments go through Stripe’s hosted checkout. We never see or store card details. Stripe asks for an email address for your receipt.
We keep a record of the order (what was bought, the amount, its status and any refund) and the email address from checkout, so we can confirm payment, restore access on a new browser and deal with refunds. This browser keeps a secure cookie that remembers parent sign-in and paid access; you can remove it from the parents’ area at any time.
For current purchases, sign in with the same parent email to restore access. Historical purchase-restoration links work once, for 15 minutes.
Purchases and the parents’ area are for adults. A child cannot buy anything inside the game.
Why we use this information (our lawful bases)
- To sell and restore access (orders, email, paid-access cookie, restore links): to perform our contract with you.
- To keep business and tax records: because the law requires it.
- To keep the service secure and working (technical logs): our legitimate interest in protecting the service and its users.
- To answer your questions: our legitimate interest in helping you, or to perform our contract with you.
We don’t sell personal information, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t build profiles of children.
How long we keep it
- Orders, receipts and refunds: six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires.
- Parent sign-in links work once; Google enforces their expiry. Unfinished browser sign-in challenges expire after 10 minutes. Historical restore links: 15 minutes.
- Remembered parent sign-in: up to 30 days, or until you sign out or clear your browser’s data. Without remembering the device, the cookie ends when the browser session ends and server authorisation lasts at most one day.
- Support emails: 12 months after the conversation ends.
- Technical security logs: 30 days.
- Your child’s play: on your device only, until you reset it or clear the browser.
Who else is involved
We use carefully chosen service providers who act only on our instructions: Stripe for payments, Google Firebase Authentication / Identity Platform for parent identity, Google Cloud for hosting and purchase records when deployed, and an email provider to send restore links. Some of them may process information outside the United Kingdom, for example in the United States. Where that happens, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved data transfer agreements.
Behind the scenes
Like any website, our hosting providers process technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
Children
CapyBooBoo is designed for young children and follows the UK Age Appropriate Design Code: privacy is high by default, nothing is shared, and there are no nudges to stay longer. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or send it to you in a portable form. Parents can make these requests for their children. We will reply within one month. Asking is free.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
